WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA – On the heels of co-owners Chris Barnes and Jacqui Squatriglia's (pictured left) success with their New York City Hell's Kitchen "FLAMING SADDLES SALOON", they felt it was time to boot, scoot and boogie into West Hollywood to become the first country-western themed saloon located in the heart of L.A.'s gay mecca.
Grand opening festivities have been set for Wednesday, January 28, 2015 where West Hollywood Mayor John D'Amico will present a City proclamation to commemorate the event.
This celebration benefits the vital work the Los Angeles LGBT Center has provided for forty-five years, along with Ronnie Kroell's Friend Movement, which connects conscientious organizations and caring people.
Says Barnes, "Jacqui and I and the entire staff of Flaming Saddles are honored to give our support to the Los Angeles LGBT Center's HIV/STD testing and treatment services in West Hollywood, where a portion of our grand opening proceeds will be donated."
Also honored will be the evening's special guest, platinum-selling country star Billy Gilman. Gilman made headlines when he recently came out as a gay man, still one of the few major country stars to do so.
Says Gilman, "Now that I have finally found my place as a person, I look forward to being an inspiration for others and it will only make the music that much better!"
Recently voted by New York Magazine as the #1 gay bar in Gotham, Flaming Saddles' new, west coast saloon features all the elements of its famed east coast location, with full bar service, country-western tunes on the all-digital jukebox and dancing bartenders, performing choreographed dance routines live to the delight of patrons throughout the day and night.
The WeHo location is housed in the historic building at the corner of Santa Monica Boulevard and Larrabee, the former home of Larrabee Sound recording studios and the First National Bank of Sherman; "Sherman" being the original name of the once unincorporated district now known as West Hollywood.
Flaming Saddles-West Hollywood boasts 6,000 square feet on two floors, with wall-to-wall bars on each level. Patrons can belly up to the bar or relax in booths or seating areas with burled wood table tops. Rustic hardwood covers the floor on both levels with antler chandeliers adding a unique ambiance.
Squatriglia, who dreamed of seeing boys perform her choreographed dances that she created at the legendary Coyote Ugly Saloons all across the world, shared the vision with her partner Barnes, a veteran comedic actor with career credits ranging from The Carol Burnett Show to Seinfeld to 30 Rock and said, "If we call it Flaming Saddles ...I'm in!!"
Dancing bartenders, performing Squatriglia's choreographed routines multiple times an hour, will be the hallmark of Flaming Saddles, along with nightly drink specials and a menu of light bites and appetizers, including perennial favorite, Frito Pie. The friendly staff is charged with creating a comfortable environment which welcomes locals and visitors alike from all walks of life.
Says Barnes, "Country-western music has historically been the soundtrack to people's lives and has always had a huge LGBT fan base, as evidenced by watching our patrons mouthing the words to their favorite country tunes while bartenders are busy kicking up their heels atop the bar."
